Srinagar : On the eve of International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, J&K Police on Wednesday observed a series of events at various police establishments across Kashmir valley. Besides debates, rallies and seminars were also organised at various educational institutes/places to aware the youth as well as society regarding the ill effects of drugs.
At PCR Kashmir, a pledge ceremony was held in the conference hall of PCR Kashmir. DySP Abdul Naafi led the ceremony by reading out the contents of the pledge. Officers and officials who attended the event repeated the pledge after him. The pledge-taking ceremony underscored the importance of recognizing the dangers of drug abuse and taking collective action to prevent it.
In Srinagar, the day was observed at J&K Police Youth Development and Rehabilitation Centre Eidgah, Srinagar. The event was attended by the victims of substance abuse, in-patients, recovered patients, their families and other members of the society, professionals of the centre and Police officials.
Besides, the SO to DIG CKR Liaqat Ali (SSP), SP North, SDPO Mahrajgunj, SHO Safakadal attended the event as guests of honor. They deliberated on the insights about drug abuse and to fight against the menace. They assured to provide all possible support in the fight against drug abuse. Speaking on the event, Dr. Mohd Muzaffar said that through education, community support, and professional care, we can make a significant impact in the lives of individuals and the health of our society. During the event, a documentary was also presented which showed the sufferers of substance abuse in deep pain and agony. It also highlighted how drug abuse makes everyone suffer especially those in close proximity with the victims of substance abuse.
Moreover, anti-Narcotics Task Force Kashmir organized an event which saw positive participation from youth representing different sectors such as sports, Education, Health, Art, and Entertainment. The event was supported by the Kashmir Youth Federation, Ujala Cygnus Hospital Kashmir, MTC, Tiger Calisthenics Academy and Cinar Valley Fitness Trust. During the event, live demonstrations of martial arts by Muzaffar Taekwondo Club and Tiger’s Calisthenics Academy, followed by a Drug-Free Kashmir Rally from Polo view Market to Press Colony Srinagar were held. At the closing ceremony of the event, DySP ANTF Kashmir Nisar Ahmad Bakshi, SDPO Kothibagh Hariprasad, SHO P/S Kothibagh Manzoor Ahmad & Chairman KRSF Mr. Nasir Ali Khan along with participants took the pledge.
Similarly, Police in Budgam, Baramulla, Bandipora, Awantipora, Kulgam, Ganderbal, Anantnag, Handwara & Sopore organized several events at various educational institutes and police units across the districts/police districts. These events include awareness rallies, debates & seminars. Banners & placards on ill-effects of drug abuses were displayed at prominent public places to create awareness among the youth as well as society to stay away from drugs and the ill effects of the drug abuse were also conveyed through these means.
