2 drug peddlers arrested in B’la: Police

Srinagar : Police on Thursday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Baramulla and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that the police party of Police Post Kamalkote headed by In-charge Police Post Kamalkote at a checkpoint established at Hardu Kamalkote Uri, intercepted a suspect identified as Abdul Khaliq Khatana S/o Sadir Din R/o Kamalkote Uri and during search recovered 2 Kgs of cannabis powder from his possession.
Stating that in a similar action another drug peddler identified as Khalid Ayoub Najar @Khalid Heroin S/o Mohd Ayoub R/o Mohalla Jadeed Baramulla was intercepted by a Police party of Police Post Delina headed by In-charge Police Post Delina at a checkpoint established at Kralhar , Police in its statement further said that during the search of the said accused thirty (30) grams of Brown Sugar was recovered from his possession following both the drug peddlers were arrested and shifted to police stations where they remain in custody.
Police in its statement furthermore said that cases under relevant sections of law were registered against the said accused and further investigation was also initiated.In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society, reiterating therein its commitment to act tough against the criminals as per law.
