Jammu: To strengthen the e-good governance system, J&K Administration has started many initiatives to provide services delivery to the public at their door steps.
As part of these initiatives and as a reform in the public service delivery of the Revenue Department, the District Administration Jammu has started to issue Land Passbooks to the legal owners of land.
The Deputy Commissioner Jammu AnshulGarg termed the initiative a historical step towards transparency and Good Governance. He described the initiative as a milestone to improve Services delivery, enhance Transparency, Accountability in Revenue record system.
He said that this Land Passbook has been written in Urdu, English and Hindi languages as a measure to further improve service delivery to fill the information vacuum and promote people’s ease of access to the revenue record.
He also observed that the Land Passbook will provide Revenue related information to the land owners in a very simple form, besides shall act as a valid paper to present before financial and other institutions.
The Deputy Commissioner informed that over two lakh land owners would be provided the Land Passbooks in the district.
“Over 1.96 lakh land passbooks have been generated so far, out of which four thousand five hundred thirty five land passbooks have been generated through Ramtech server” he added. He further informed that 93.3% land passbooks have been generated till date with Bahu topping the list with 100% saturation of the scheme followed by Marh with 99.71% and Suchetgarh with 99.58% and Jammu South with 99.43% saturation.
Highlighting the benefits of the Land Pass Books, the DC said the same are true to the Revenue record and can be generated online without any hassle.
The DC further said that the Land Pass Book was an evidently valid entity carrying the same evidentiary value as if being certified copies of Record-of-Rights for all intents and purposes before Courts and Financial institutions.
The Deputy Commissioner said that Land Passbooks issued to the landholder contains entry from the Jamabandi in Revenue Estate, so as to enable the landholder to make its use for Credit facilities and for other matters connected therewith.
The DC added that each Land Pass Book has a unique ID and QR code as an additional security feature and with the help of QR code any institution, individual or agency can verify the credentials and authenticity of the Land Pass Book
