Srinagar : Police on Monday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Kulgam district and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Station Kulgam during patrolling intercepted a suspect identified as Aaqib Hussain Bhat S/o Abdul Rashid Bhat R/o Laisoo, Guddar carrying a nylon bag near ARTO office Kulgam and alter during his search recovered 3.2 Kgs of Poppy Straw from the possession of the said accused who was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that a case under FIR No. 61/2024 under section 8/15 NDPS act was registered at Police Station Kulgam besides initiating investigation into the case, Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood and also warned people not to in drug peddling activity.
