2 drug peddlers arrested in G’bal, contraband substances also recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Saturday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Ganderbal and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party from Police Post Shadipora apprehended two suspects identified as Rizwan Ahmad Khan S/o Gh Hassan Khan & Sahil Ahmad Khan S/o Manzoor Ahmad Khan, R/o Khan Mohalla during patrolling at Khan Mohallah Bund and during search recovered 10.2Kgs of dried mashed bhang with seeds & tops and 368 grams of Bhung Powder from their possession.
In its Statement Police further said” during preliminary questioning the accused Rizwan Ahmad Khan confessed that he has stashed some more mashed Bhung Pathri at his home”, adding “Later in presence of Executive Magistrate 1st Class, more 2 Kgs and 796 Grams Bhang Patri was recovered from the residential house of the accused situated at Khan Mohalla”. Stating that both the accused were shifted to police station where they remain in custody, Police in its statement further said that a case under FIR No. 258/2024 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Ganderbal besides initiating further investigation.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police appealed people to share inputs regarding narcotics or any other crimes with the authorities of the nearest police establishment or dial 112 and also sought their cooperation in curbing the menace of drugs from the society, reiterating therein its commitment to act tough against the criminals as per the law.
