Srinagar : One-weekcapacity building training programme on “Soil health concept & ecosystem resource optimization for sustainable production” was inaugurated today at Faculty of Agriculture, Wadura, SKUAST-K to enhance the capabilities of participants in implementing HADP effectively. The programme is being organized by the Division of Soil Science & Agricultural Chemistry and sponsored byHADP-16:Alternate system of Agriculture for sustainability.
According to a statement issued from Public Relations Office SKUAST-K here, this programme is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of soil health and ecosystem resource optimization, focusing on the principles and practices that underpin sustainable production systems. The goal is to equip participants with the knowledge and tools necessary to enhance soil fertility, improve ecosystem resilience, and ensure long-term productivity. The training programme is being held from 09-14 September 2024, has 25 Agriculture officers actively participating and deliberating on the themes with the experts.Prof. Raihana H. Kanth, Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, Chief Guest of the inaugural session in her address stated that the programme aims to provide opportunity to participating officers to gain insights into the principles of ecosystem management, including biodiversity conservation, water management, and nutrient cycling. She also impressed upon the participants to learn how to assess soil health through various diagnostic methods and interpret the results to make informed management decisions. Prof. Javid A. Bhat, Head Soil Sciences welcomed the participants and Dr. M.H Chesti proposed the vote of thanks.
