Pulwama (Tral)|July, 5: Rubina Bano, a tribal girl hailing from Basmani in Bhatnoor, Tral, Pulwama has made headlines by establishing her own Milk Processing Unit with assistance from the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM). Her inspiring journey from participant in an NRLM awareness program to successful entrepreneur underscores the spirit of determination and enterprise in rural Kashmir.
Motivated by NRLM’s initiative aimed at promoting self-sufficiency among rural women, Rubina Bano dedicated herself to setting up a fully operational milk processing unit. Starting with the acquisition of three cows, she now supplies milk, butter, curd, and other dairy products to local retailers in neighboring areas like Panner Mandoora and Bhatnoor. Her business has quickly gained popularity, attracting significant customer demand and enhancing her financial stability. Speaking to Kashmir Horizon, she expressed her satisfaction and happiness with the venture, emphasizing its positive impact on her family of five. “This unit supports my family well, and I am content with its success,” she remarked. Her achievement serves as an inspiration to other young girls, urging them to pursue entrepreneurial paths and attain economic independence. The NRLM, which has facilitated numerous success stories throughout the Kashmir Valley in recent years, continues to empower women through skill development initiatives and financial backing.
