Srinagar : An all important meeting of the Employees Joint Consultative Committee (EJCC) was held in Srinagar on Wednesday wherein the problems of thousands of temporary Employees and their long pending legitimate demands were discussed in threadbare and in detail.
According to a statement issued by the forum, the meeting was chaired by Chairman Aijaz Ahmed Khan, the meeting was also attended by senior Officials and members of the Association including
Sheikh Aijaz Ahmad, Ishtiaq Ahmad Baig, Javid Ahmad Akhoon, Malik Ghulam Hassan, Shoaib Munshi, Farooq Ahmad Kawa, Rehmatullah Khan, Abdul Qayyum Baig, Feroz Ahmad Najjar, Muhammad Iqbal Kanth, Muhammad Afzal Parmoo, Manzoor Ishbari, Inayatullah Nowsheri, Muhammad Yunus Matoo, Abrar Ahmad and Sajad Ahmad Ahngar.
Mr Aijaz Ahmad Khan said that as per the recent Government Order , the working hours in the Government offices have been fixed in such a way that Government Employees have to face so many hardships due to freezing temperatures and severe cold while reaching their places of duty.
Khan demanded a change in the present schedule of duty which has been fixed as 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, saying that due to inclement weather, with the onset of winter in Jammu and Kashmir, working hours of Government employees may be kept from 10:30 am to 4:30 pm instead of the timing fixed by the Government.
The members present in the meeting also expressed their satisfaction with the demand put forth by the Chairman. Aijjaz Ahmad Khan said that at a time when in other UTs of India there are only five working days a in a week , our UT is being treated differently in this behalf and instead of 5 days there are 6 working days in a week due to which the Employees are being discriminated on this front.
Mr Aijaz Ahmad Khan said that since Jammu and Kashmir is also a Centrally Administered Territory, the same central laws and regulations relating to the functioning of the government should be implemented here in Jammu and Kashmir which have been implemented in other Centrally Administered Territories.
EJCC Chairman Mr Aijaz Ahmad Khan also appealed the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir and Chief Secretary Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta to implement the procedure of only five working days in a week in the Government Departments of Jammu and Kashmir so as to ensure protection of the rights of millions of Government Employees. Khan demanded that the Government Employees working in all the Departments of Jammu and Kashmir should be allowed to observe holidays on Saturdays and Sundays as is being observed by the Central Government Employees across India.
Meanwhile Aijaz Ahmad Khan expressed his demand for regularisation of jobs for many workers working on daily wage basis in various Departments .
