G’bal: Jammu and Kashmir police busted a Hizbul Mujahideen module and arrested three persons from whose possession three hand grenades were recovered, police said Tuesday.
In a statement issued here on Tuesday police said that on a reliable information that a module comprising of three youth namely Arshid Ahmad Khan S/O Mohd Altaf Khan R/O Wayil wuder Gutlibagh, Majid Rasool Rather S/O Gh Rasool Rather R/O Beehama Ganderbal and Mohd Asif Najar S/O Abdul Razaq Najar R/O Beehama Ganderbal have come in contact with Pakistan based Kashmiri militant Fayaz Khan R/O Chanhar, Gutlibagh who has tasked them to take up militant activities in the area.
“An operation was launched by joint team police station Ganderbal and 5RR during the intervening night of 14/15 September and all three local youth arrested and incriminating electronic gadgets recovered. During sustained questioning the trio disclosed about possession of three hand grenades which were eventually recovered on their instance,” the statement read.
The module was instructed by the Pakistanni handler to join militancy and undertake attacks on security forces in the area. “In this back drop case FIR no. 199 of 2020 U/S 13,18 UAPA 1967 stands registered in PS Ganderbal,” the statement said.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ganderbal Khalil Ahmad Poswal while deliberating on the module underscored the fact that gullible youth of valley are being pushed to militancy by militant operatives across the border through various social media platforms and parents remain unaware about such activities of their wards and said that police is taking all steps to identify and counsel such vulnerable youth.
“However, it is the primary responsibility of parents also to be sensitised about such modus operandi being adopted by anti-national elements (ANEs) and keep watch over the activities of their wards to save them from falling prey to Pakistan based operatives,” the statement said
