Hirdesh Kumar takes stock of public grievances at Srinagar

Srinagar: Commissioner Secretary, School Education and Social Welfare Department, Hirdesh Kumar Wednesday took stock of people’s grievances during a day-long public grievance camp held here Wednesday.
During the programme, a large number of deputations and individuals from across Kashmir districts including, Srinagar, Budgam, Anantnag, Baramulla, Ganderbal, Kulgam, Pulwama, Shopian, Gurez, Bandipora, Kangan and other areas met Kumar and highlighted their issues.
Speaking to several delegations during the camp, Kumar said that bettering education system across Jammu and Kashmir should be a primary concern of all. “We all must take extra efforts to bring some positive changes in the educational sector. We must also ensure 100% attendance of the children in the schools,” he said.
He said that Government was also taking several initiatives for bringing positive changes in the educational sector at all levels.
Director General, Social Welfare, Rukhsana Gani; Special Secretary, Social Welfare, Tasaduq Jeelani; Joint Director School Education (North Central), Aabid Hussain; Joint Director School Education (South), Bilal Khursheed and other senior officers of school and Social Welfare departments were present on the occasion.
Matters related to Department of Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction were also heard by Commissioner Secretary, Hirdesh Kumar, along with Additional Secretary, Department of Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation, Suraj Prakash Rakwal.
The Commissioner Secretary said that Government was aiming to ensure 100 per cent implementation of all beneficiary-oriented schemes. He said that Lieutenant Governor has issued strict guidelines in this regard.
Meanwhile a delegation of contractors apprised Kumar about their developmental works in the department and urged all the pending amounts may be released on priority. They said that they had worked promptly to revive the dysfunctional toilets across several schools in Kashmir division.
A delegation of Masters apprised the Commissioner Secretary about various issues regarding their service matters.
Another delegation of teachers sought promotions as per the rules and regulations. A delegation of unemployed music students and scholars sought introduction of music subjects at school and college levels.
Another delegation of Mass communication and Journalism students also demanded introduction of Journalism, Public Relations and Multi Media Production subjects at school and college levels.
Another delegation of Parents Association of Private Schools, Kashmir apprised Kumar about their concerns about some of the private schools toward their children. They alleged in their application that some of the Private schools resorting to harassment and demanding extra fee. They also demanded that recommendations of Fee Fixation Committee should be implemented.
A delegation of Kandi Baramulla demanded Zoology and Botany for their Higher Secondary School. They also demanded that posts lying vacant in the schools should be filled immediately.
Another delegation from Nishat, Srinagar demanded enhancement in financial assistance scheme for physically-challenged persons of Jammu and Kashmir.
During the camp several service matter cases were also taken up.The deputations sought an early redressal from the Government.
A deputation of Tool Tax Plaza demanded that Government should look into their grievances.
Various individuals also highlighted their issues including compensation, subsidy under several centrally sponsored schemes in the Education and Social Welfare departments.
The Administrative Secretary assured the deputations and individuals that all their issues would be looked into for redressal.
