SEOC ready with 100 tents, wireless network

Srinagar: State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC) established at Gogoland Humhama has been made ready to meet any eventuality by erecting 100 tents complete with facilities of ration, cooking Gas, drinking water, doctors, paramedical staff and medicines while one hundred more such tents are being erected in the Centre. Apart from this a wireless communication network (WCNetwork) with satellite phone facility has also been made functional in the centre.

This information was given to the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir Baseer Ahmad Khan at an officers meeting held at Harinivas this evening. The meeting was convened to review the latest status of the arrangements put in place by the divisional administration in the backdrop of recent incessant rains and possible flood threat in the Valley.

The meeting was informed that adequate number of doctors and paramedics have been deployed at various EOCs to meet the requirement in the event of any eventuality. It was also informed that health department has procured 6 lakh chorine tablets and one lakh tablets have been kept available, apart from other medicines, across 40 such  Centres established in the city.

The meeting was told that the EOC earlier established in Central Library Lal Chowk has been shifted to Management and Public Administration (IMPA) as per the decision taken previously.

It was informed that over one thousand blankets have been received from Red Cross Kupwara raising the total number of blankets to 9000 made available at these Centres.

The Food Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department has so far stored over 2300 qtls of ration, about 500 LPG cylinders and ten qtls of pulses at these centres, the meeting was informed.

It was given out that dismantling of bailey bridge at Mehjoor Nagar is in progress and will be completed within a couple of days.

Regarding the availability of dewatering pumps, the meeting was informed that about 50 pumps have been taken to water logging areas of the city.

Apart from the arrangements made by the civil administration, the  CRPF has also kept ready 14 Companies for extending assistance to the civil administration in the event of any eventuality, it was told in the meeting.

Appreciating the work of the officers, the Divisional Commissioner asked them to maintain close coordination with each other to ensure that facilities put in place in these Centres are augmented rather thinking about its reduction.
