Law ENFORCEMENT wing of Agri Deptt conducts surprise checks

Udhampur: To curb the sale of spurious fertilizers/pesticides, Assistant Director Law Enforcement, Department of Agriculture Jammu, S Baljit Singh Raina and Enforcement Inspector Udhampur Sh B. K. Mahajan along with team of local officers conducted surprise checks of various seeds, fertilizer and pesticide stores at Tikri, Jib Thathi and Udhampur town.

During checking of stocks of fertilizers at Tikri the IPL Urea under batch no. 08/2017 was declared misbranded and the dealer was directed not to sell the same.

S Baljit Singh Raina directed all the retailers of agriculture inputs to display the licenses as well as sale rate list & maintain the stock & sale register of various inputs as mandated under the Seed Act 1966, the Pesticide Act 1968 and Fertilizer Control order 1985. He further stressed on them to supply only quality inputs to the farming community aimed towards doubling of the farmer’s income as envisioned by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Narindera Modi.

He instructed the retail fertilizer dealers to make sale through Point of Sale (POS) devices for proper monitoring as these devices have been provided by the Ministry of Fertilizer and Chemicals, Government of India free of cost to the retail dealers. Any deviation shall be viewed seriously and action as warranted under rules shall be initiated against the defaulters, he added.

Assistant Director Law Enforcement appreciated the retail fertilizer Dealer M/s Sanjeev Kumar, opposite D C Office Udhampur and M/s Shanti Ram Agro Agency, Slathia Chowk Udhampur for proper up keeping of record of receipt/stock and display of sale rates.
