Rural Dev Minister inspects ongoing development works in Kupwara

Kupwara/June,3: Minister for Rural Development, Panchayat Raj, Law and Justice Abdul Haq Monday toured Kupwara district to inspect various ongoing projects in the districts.

Minister visited Syed Sheraaz Storage Tank at Chandigam which is being constructed at the cost of Rs 4.54 crore. Minister was informed that work is in progress and half of the work has been completed on the storage tank. He directed the officials to expedite the work for early completion of the project.

Abdul Haq directed the Department of Forest to make immediate arrangement for axing of trees falling in the project area for which compensation has already been paid to the department.

He said the government will allocate an ample amount for construction of storage tanks and dams to overcome drinking water shortage and for irrigation purpose.

He later inspected the work on Kantpora Bridge being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 6.40 crore. While interacting with the people at the work site, Minister asked the people to act as eyes and ears of the government by keeping eye on the ongoing projects to ensure quality work.

The Minister also took stock of the work going on at Shumriyal Bridge which is being constructed at the cost of Rs 1.97. Minister directed the officials to press more men and machinery in service to complete the construction of bridge by August this   year.

While interacting with the officials at work sites, Minister said there would be no compromise on quality of work and impressed upon the engineers and executing agencies to complete projects well in time. He

He instructed the executing agencies not to allow time overrun in execution of various ongoing projects and said the erring officials would have to pay for the negligence.

During the visit various delegations met minister and apprised the minister about the problems faced by them. The Minister assured them that all genuine demands of the people would be fulfilled in a phased manner.
