Rajouri : Security forces and rescue teams recovered an unidentified, highly decomposed body from a river in the Nowshera area of Rajouri district. Officials said local contract workers operating nearby spotted the body floating along the river current and immediately alerted the local police station.
A joint operational team comprising local police officers and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) personnel reached the scene to retrieve the body from the water. Officials stated that due to the advanced state of decomposition, immediate on-site identification was not possible. The body was transferred to a nearby medical facility for a post-mortem examination, while police registered a case and initiated a formal probe to establish the victim’s identity and cause of death.
