New Delhi, May 1: The ban on Red Beacons aimed at ending ‘VIP Culture’ mindset, as termed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has come into force from today.
The Ministers and officials in the Central Government and State Governments will not be able to use Red Beacons on their official vehicles any more.
Several states have already implemented the new norms.
However, according to the official sources, red beacons will be allowed on vehicles dealing with emergency in relief services, ambulance and fire services.
The decision to do away with the beacons of all kinds atop of all categories of vehicles in the country was taken at a Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi last month.
