Handwara,: Police on Tuesday said that it has secured conviction in a case registered in 2021 under the POCSO Act.
In a statement issued here on Tuesday Police said that Principal District and Sessions Court Kupwara sentenced the accused to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment with a fine of ₹50,000. He was also awarded an additional three-year sentence under IPC provisions, with both sentences to run concurrently. The case involved the kidnapping and sexual assault of a minor girl. Police termed the conviction a result of sustained investigation and commitment to justice.
