NIT Srinagar organises Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 cleanliness drive

Srinagar :The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar on Thursday organised a campus-wide cleanliness drive under Swachhata Hi Seva 2026, with participation from the institute administration, faculty, staff, NSS and NCC volunteers, students, security personnel and sanitation staff.

The programme was attended by Director NIT Srinagar Prof. Anurag Misra, Registrar Prof. Atikur Rehman, Dean Academic Affairs Prof. Bashir Ahmad Mir and Dean Student Welfare Prof. Mohammad Abid Bazaz.

The drive was conducted with the support of NSS Coordinator Dr. Pramod Kumar Yadav, Dean Alumni and International Affairs Prof. M. A. Shah, Dr.Harkirat Singh, Dr.Nitika Kundan, Dr. H. S. Pali, Dr. Manoj Kumar, Dr. Ashok Kumar and Dr. Jitendra Gurjar, besides institute staff, security personnel and sanitation workers.

The programme began with participants taking the Swachhata pledge, reaffirming their commitment to cleanliness and responsible civic practices. This was followed by an awareness march and sloganeering across the campus, with participants carrying Swachhata Hi Seva banners and raising awareness about cleanliness and environmental responsibility.

The participants subsequently carried out a cleanliness drive across different areas of the NIT Srinagar campus, collecting waste and cleaning public and common spaces.

On the occasion, Director Prof. Anurag Misra encouraged the participants to sustain cleanliness efforts on the campus and emphasised the importance of collective responsibility in maintaining a hygienic and environmentally responsible institutional environment.

The participation of faculty members, staff, NSS and NCC volunteers, students, security personnel and sanitation workers highlighted the Institute’s focus on community participation in cleanliness initiatives.

The programme concluded with participants reaffirming their commitment to maintaining a clean, green and hygienic campus and promoting the message of cleanliness and civic responsibility beyond the institute.

The Coordinators also acknowledged the support of the Director, Registrar, Dean Academic Affairs and Dean Student Welfare, along with faculty, staff, volunteers and students, for their participation in the Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 campaign.
