Handwara | October 01: Police on Thursday intensified vehicular checks and anti-illegal mining drives in Police district Handwara, seizing one vehicle, challaning 17 others, and penalizing a tractor carrying illegally extracted minerals.
In a statement issued here on Thursday, Police said that enforcement nakas were set up across Handwara, Kralgund, Zachaldara, Qalamabad, Vilgam, and Magam to enforce strict road safety compliance. During the drive, 17 vehicles were challaned and one was seized for traffic infractions, while Police Post Langate separately booked a tractor under the MMRD Act for transporting illegally mined material.
