Chairman holds strategic review meet with judicial officers

Srinagar | :  In a determined push to strengthen alternative dispute resolution mechanisms and bring justice closer to the people, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Srinagar, under the leadership of Tasleem Arief (Principal District and Sessions Judge, Srinagar and Chairman, DLSA), convened a high-level review meeting with all judicial officers of district Srinagar.

The meeting marked the formal launch of the ambitious ‘Mediation for the Nation’ campaign, a 90-day nationwide drive aimed at promoting mediation as a time-bound, efficient, and relationship-preserving tool of justice.

The campaign, as envisioned by the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) and Jammu & Kashmir Legal Services Authority (JKLSA), seeks to identify and resolve a wide range of pending matters civil disputes, family conflicts, commercial cases, MACT claims, land acquisition matters, bank recovery suits, and compoundable criminal cases, through structured and effective mediation processes in every court of the district.

Addressing the Ld. Judicial officers, Chairman DLSA called mediation ‘the justice of tomorrow delivered Wednesday,’ and stressed that mediation not only reduces the burden on courts but also restores peace, dignity, and mutual respect between disputing parties. He urged all judicial officers to actively spearhead the identification of suitable cases and promote a culture of dialogue and reconciliation in their respective courts.

“This drive is not just about resolving cases, it’s about transforming how we deliver justice. Mediation empowers people to settle disputes amicably, without prolonged litigation. We appeal to the litigant public to embrace this opportunity and resolve their disputes with dignity, speed, and satisfaction,” said Tasleem Arief.

The meeting witnessed active and committed participation from the Learned Judicial Officers of district Judiciary Srinagar, who expressed full support for the initiative and pledged their efforts to ensure its success. The campaign is expected to usher in a wave of speedy resolutions and reinforce public trust in the judiciary through the power of dialogue and mutual understanding.
