Srinagar : Police on Thursday said that it has arrested three drug peddlers in Baramulla & Kulgam districts and also recovered a substantial quantity of contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a Police party of Police Post Mirgund at a checkpoint established at Check Raza Khan intercepted a vehicle (Alto) bearing registration no JK01V-3940 with two suspects identified as Parvaiz Ahmad Shah S/o Abdul Ahad Shah R/o Lolab Kupwara A/P Rambailgarh, Khushboo Jan D/o Bashir Ahmad Parray R/o Rambailgarh on board and during search, 1146 grams of Charas Powder were recovered from their possession. Police in its statement further said that both the said accused persons have been arrested besides which the vehicle used in the commission of the crime has also been seized.
Stating that that in a similar action in Kulgam also a Police team from Police Station Qazigund set up a checkpoint at Levdoora crossing on Jammu-Srinagar Highway and intercepted a vehicle (Truck) bearing registration no JK02BK-8707 driven by one Sardar Chand S/o Deena Nath R/o Samba Manan, Jammu and during search, Poppy Straw like contraband substance was recovered, Police in its statement further said that the said accused was arrested besides which the vehicle used in commission of crime was also seized, Stating therein further that cases under relevant sections of law also stand registered at respective police stations besides which the investigations is also underway.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society, reiterating therein its commitment to act tough against the criminals as per law.
