Director encourages delegates to explore Kashmir’s heritage, beauty
Srinagar : The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar on Wednesday this week welcomed the Yuva Sangam Phase-VII delegation from Maharashtra, led by IIT Bombay, as part of the Government of India’s Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat (EBSB) initiative.
The delegation was received by Prof. Anurag Misra, Director of NIT Srinagar, alongside Dr. Ashok Kumar, Nodal Officer for Yuva Sangam and Coordinator of the EBSB Cell at NIT Srinagar. Faculty members Dr. Pramod Kumar, Dr. Hareesh, Dr. Brajendra, Dr. Nitika Kundan, Dr. Janani L., Dr. Dinesh, and Dr. Pankaj, together with EBSB student volunteers, were also present to mark the occasion.
Addressing the visiting delegates, Prof. Anurag Misra encouraged them to immerse themselves in Kashmir’s rich cultural heritage, traditions, technological progress, and natural landscapes. Urging the students to maximize their experience, he shared the enthusiastic message, “Dil Maange More!”
Highlighting the overarching vision of the exchange, Dr. Ashok Kumar emphasized the key role Yuva Sangam plays in promoting national integration, cultural understanding, and mutual respect among youth across different regions. He noted that direct interaction and experiential learning serve to strengthen people-to-people connections and foster a deeper appreciation of India’s diversity.
Structured around the core framework of the Five P’s—Paryatan (Tourism), Parampara (Traditions), Pragati (Development), Paraspar Sampark (People-to-People Connect), and Prodyogiki (Technology)—the program provides participants with immersive opportunities to explore Kashmir’s heritage, witness its developmental progress, engage with local communities, and gain exposure to regional educational and technological advancements.
Throughout their stay, faculty members and EBSB student volunteers will facilitate the delegation’s interactions with the institute, local communities, and the broader cultural and educational landscape of Jammu and Kashmir.
Kickstarting their itinerary on Thursday, the delegates began their day with an energizing yoga session, followed by a visit to the historic Dargah Hazratbal shrine and its vibrant local market. The group later explored the bustling market along Dal Lake and took in the region’s iconic natural beauty during a memorable Shikara ride.
The visit aims to further solidify cultural ties between Maharashtra and Jammu and Kashmir through active exchange, experiential learning, and meaningful interaction in line with the primary goals of the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat initiative.
