Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that it has booked a drug peddler under Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (PIT NDPS).
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a drug peddler namely Aamir Suhail Ganie, son of Mohd Saidullah Ganie, resident of Reshipora Dialgam has been booked under the PIT NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority, subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot Bhalwal, Jammu. Stating that while acting on credible inputs and as part of ongoing efforts to curb the drug menace in the districtthe accused was found involved in illicit drug trafficking, posing a grave threat to society, particularly to the youth Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement reiterated its commitment to eradicate drug menace and ensure a safe and drug-free society, urging people therein to report any suspicious activities related to narcotics to the nearest police station.
