Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested three drug peddlers in Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar a police party headed by SHO Police Station Baramulla at a checkpoint established at Khawajabagh Baramulla, intercepted one identified as Sarfaraz Ahmad Dar S/o Sonaullah Dar R/o Kralhar Baramulla and during search, 60 tablets of Alprazolam and 29 tablets of Pacitane psychotropic substances was recovered from his possession. Police in its statement further said that in a similar action a police party of Police Station Boniyar at a checkpoint established at Banali Boniyar, intercepted one Mehraj-ud-Din Sheikh S/o Gh Hassan R/o Dudran and during search recovered 54 grams of Heroin-like from his possession.
Stating that in a similar action a police party of Police Post Wagoora at a checkpoint established at Takiya Wagoora, intercepted one Jahangir Ahmad Shah S/o Mehraj ud Din R/o Takiya Wagoora and during search, recovered 30 grams of Charas like substanc from his possession, Police in its statement further said that all the accused were arrested and shifted to respective police stations, adding therein that cases under relevant sections of law were registered at respective police stations besides initiating further investigations. In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society, reiterating therein its commitment to act tough against the criminals as per law.
