New Delhi : Rajya Sabha MP and senior BJP leader Ghulam Ali Khatana welcomed Separatist leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq’s commendation of the Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) for its efforts in combating the drug menace, highlighting the growing public trust in the administration under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.
Khatana lauded the JKP for its professionalism and dedication. “We are proud of our security forces—be it JKP, paramilitary forces, or the Indian Army. They are working tirelessly and professionally. Mirwaiz Umar Farooq’s acknowledgment of JKP’s role in tackling the drug issue in Kashmir is a testament to their commitment to safeguarding society,” he said. Khatana further highlighted the police force’s crucial role beyond law enforcement, particularly in countering terrorism. He attributed the improved situation in J&K to the central government’s scientific and inclusive approach to governance. “Under PM Modi ji’s leadership, there is no communal or regional divide, unlike during the NC-Congress regimes. No civilian casualties during encounters, no strike calendars, and even accountability for alleged excesses, like the case of the Rajouri youth killings, have built people’s confidence,” Khatana remarked. He emphasized that the absence of bandh calls and strike calendars reflects a shift in the public narrative. “This is the New Kashmir that Modi ji envisioned—focused on peace, development, and justice,” he added.
