Srinagar: Police on Thursday said that it has booked a militant associate linked with LeT militant outfit under PSA and four drug smugglers under PIT-NDPS Act in Sopore and Handwara.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that militant associate namely Ahsan Ul Haq Khanday S/o Nazir Ahmad Khanday R/o Nowpora Kalan Sopore has been booked under PSA , adding therein that three drug smugglers namely Barkat Ahmad Dar S/o Abdul Ahad Dar R/o Shair Colony Sopore, Umar Bashir Zargar S/o Bashir Ahmad Zargar R/o Behrampora Rafiabad and Musaib Bashir Lone S/o Bashir Ahmad Lone R/o Wadoora Payeen Sopore have been booked under PIT-NDPS Act in Sopore. Police in its statement further said that the said booked persons have been detained and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot-Balwal, Jammu.
Stating that police in Handwara also booked a drug peddler Aijaz Ahamd Bhat @Tanveer S/o Mohd Ramzan Bhat R/o Kralgund Qaziabad under PIT NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention order from the competent authority, Police in its statement further said that the booked drug peddler has been detained and subsequently lodged in jail.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police said that many cases were registered against the said drug peddlers who were also involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to the local youth, Stating therein further that despite their involvement in many FIRs, they did not mend his activities.
