Srinagar : Police on Saturday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Anantnag and also recovered contraband substance and cash from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarter Srinagar Police said that a Police party of Police Station Bijbehara at a checkpoint established at Laktipora near Play Ground intercepted a suspect identified as Mohammad Yousuf Malik S/o Mohd Jabbar Malik R/o Melhora Shopian and during search recovered 2.4 KGs of charas powder and cash amount of Rs. 1,96,000 (believed to be proceeds of narcotics crime) from the possession of the said accused who was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that case uner FIR No. 105/2024 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Bijbehara besides initiating further investigation, Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood and also warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
