Srinagar : Police on Saturday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Kulgam district and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarter Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Station Kulgam during patrolling at Okey, intercepted a suspect identified as Bilal Ahmad Bhat S/p Abdul Khaliq Bhat R/o Okey, who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully, adding therein that during search, 5.2 Kgs of Poppy Straw concealed in a nylon bag was recovered from his procession.
Stating that a case under FIR No. 60/2024 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Kulgam besides initiating investigation into the case, Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood and also warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
