Drug peddler arrested in B’la, Contraband substance also recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Friday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Baramulla and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a Police party of Police Post Old Town Baramulla headed by In-Charge Police Post Old Town Baramulla at a checkpoint established at Janbazpora-Binner Crossing, intercepted a suspect Farooq Ahmad Bhat S/o Mohd Suliaman R/o Chisti Colony Baramulla and during search recovered 18 grams of Heroin like substance from the possession of the said accused who was arrested and shifted to Police Station Baramulla where he remains in custody.
Stating that a case under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Baramulla besides initiating further investigation into the case, Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement appealed people cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society and also reiterated its commitment to act tough against the criminals as per law.
