3-drug peddlers arrested across Kashmir, Contraband substances also recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Friday said that it has arrested three drug peddlers in Kulgam and Budgam districts and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Station Qazigund during patrolling at Kurigam crossing Qazigund intercepted one Riyaz Ahmad Dar S/o Ghulam Ahmad Dar R/o Churat Qazigund carrying a nylon bag and during his search, recovered 4.2 Kgs of Poppy Straw like contraband substance filled in the said bag from the possession of the said accused who was arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody.
Police in its statement also said that in a similar action in Kulgam a police party of Police Station Kulgam at a checkpoint established at Pariwan Gadihama intercepted a suspect Fayaz Ahmad Ganie S/o Ghulam Qadir Ganie R/o Pariwan and during search recovered 270 grams of Charas like contraband substance was recovered from the possession of the accused who was arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody.
Police in it’s statement further said thsat in Budgam also a Police party of Police Station Beerwah at a checkpoint established at Chewdara Crossing intercepted a suspect Ishfaq Ahmad Malik S/o Gh Rasool Malik R/o Chewdara Beerwah, carrying a nylon bag who tried to flee from the spot after noticing police party but was apprehended tactfully and during search recovered 5 slices of charas like substance weighing about 87 grms from the possession of the said accused who was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that police has registered cases under relevant sections of law at respective police stations and initiated the investigations , Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society and also reiterated its commitment to act tough against the offenders under law.
