Srinagar : Police on Thursday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Baramulla & Kulgam district and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Post Palhallan headed by IC Police Post Palhallan at a checkpoint established at TCP Hyderbeigh, intercepted a person identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Dar S/o Mohammad Yousuf Dar R/o Yadipora Pattan and during searches recovered 8 Kgs of Cannabis Grinded Powder from the possession of the said accused who has been arrested and shifted to Police Station Pattan where he remains in custody.
Stating that in a similar action in Kulgam also a Police party headed by SHO Police Station Devsar at a checkpoint established at Banghal near Taj Brick Kiln intercepted a suspicious person identified as Mohd Ishaq Shah S/o Mohd Abdullah Shah R/o Bandhal and during his search, Police in it’s statement further said that 500 grams of grinded Cannabis concealed in a nylon bag was recovered from the possession of the said accused who has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that cases under relevant sections of law were registered at respective police stations and also initiated further investigations into the case, Police in the concluding para of it’s above referred statement appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society and reiterated that it will act tough against the criminals as per law.
