Mandeep Kour chairs Public Darbar at Bla, takes stock of public grievances, demands

Says “Such initiatives fosters admins’ ambition of providing governance at doorstep”

Baramulla: Commissioner Secretary, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, Mandeep Kour, on Monday visited Baramulla and convened a day long Public Darbar at Dak Bungalow here to take stock of public grievances besides reviewing development activities in the district.
Chairperson, District Development Council Baramulla, Safeena Beigh, Deputy Commissioner, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar, Director RDD, Shabir Hussain Bhat, Senior Superintendent of Police, Amod Ashok Nagpure, Additional District Development Commissioner, Aijaz Abdullah Saraf, DDC members, BDC Chairpersons, ACD, ACR, SDMs, PRI representatives besides social activists and locals attended the Public Darbar.
It’s apt to mention that the Government of Jammu and Kashmir has deployed the Administrative Secretaries to conduct Public Darbars in the assigned districts to hear and redress the issues and concerns of the general public.
During the Public Darbar, an open discussion was held wherein PRIs and general public presented their demands and grievances while seeking speedy disposal.
The main demands and grievances put forth by them pertained to Jal Shakti, R&B, PDD, Education, Health, Social Welfare and other concerned departments. They sought intervention of Commissioner Secretary in ensuring early redressal of their grievances.
While taking cognizance of grievances raised by the general public, Commissioner Secretary reiterated that these will be taken up with the concerned quarters for timely and early action.
Highlighting significance and motive of holding Public outreach programme, Mandeep Kour said that main aim behind this initiative is to have a convergent bridge between the administration and the people. The theme of Public Darbar is administration at door step, she added.
Commissioner Secretary said that Baramulla district is speedily progressing in terms of growth and development and stressed on public service delivery with accountability and transparency in a time-bound manner.
Safeena Beigh also highlighted the significance of Public grievance redressal camp and assured completion of developmental projects in a time bound manner. She said all the directions and suggestions have already been passed to all the concerned officers with regard to early completion of projects.
Meanwhile, Chairperson DDC Baramulla, Commissioner Secretary and DC Baramulla inspected stalls installed by various departments during the Public Darbar at the venue.
Integrity pledge was also administered to all concerned stakeholders to make transparent and corruption free nation, with an idea to practice commitment to this year’s theme, ‘Say No to Corruption, Commit to the Nation’.
Later, in a separate officers meeting regarding the issues raised during Public Darbar, Commissioner Secretary took a detailed overview of all the developmental works being executed in Baramulla.
After taking sector wise progress, Commissioner Secretary issued on spot directions to all the concerned officers to complete all the pending projects in a time bound manner. She also asked for redressal of all the issues of the general public. She asked DC to take a follow up status from all the departments regarding the directions issued during the meeting.
