Poonch: Commissioner Secretary, Industries and Commerce Department, Vikramjit Singh on Wednesday chaired a public darbar to assess issues and concerns of people of the district.
The public darbar received tremendous response from all sections of society who thronged the event with their grievances and demands. DDC and BDC members, PRIs, Beopar Mandal, members of Bar Association Poonch and Transport Association, civil society, religious leaders among other prominent citizens of the area who attended the programme. They raised their issues and grievances and sought speedy disposal of the same.
The Beopar Mandal demanded reduction in checklist for renewal of Hotel registrations, multi storey parking in bus stand Poonch. They also requested for conducting awareness camps for the traders community besides demanding expansion of industrial estate in the district.
Similarly, the Bar Association demanded shifting of FCI store near the court complex, additional Medical Officer and staff in District Hospital and Other Medical institutions to cater to local medicare needs.
Transport Association requested for maintenance of Mandi Loran road and revision of freight rate list.
Chairperson District Development Council (DDC) Poonch, DDC and BDC members besides other PRI representatives raised specific issues like slow progress under JJM, upgradation of roads, restoration of Lift Schemes, road construction in unconnected habitats and remote areas, regular water supply, improving school infrastructure and rationalization of teaching staff, filing up of vacancies in PHC’s, regular power supply, release of PMAY payments to the beneficiaries, installation of hand pumps, completion of mini secretariat besides other issues concerning their respective areas.
The members of civil society and former Legislators also presented their demands including construction of Ring road, enhanced medical facilities in the district hospital and settings up new industrial estates in Poonch. They hailed the initiative of central government for providing cable car and solar power project in the district. They also demanded creation of Pir Panjal battalion for providing employment to the youth.
Meanwhile, Councillor of Municipal Council Poonch and Municipal Committee Surankote demanded upgradation of existing road infrastructure and water supply schemes, preparation of master plan for Poonch Town, parking space and other developmental issues pertaining to their wards.
DDC Chairperson, Tazeem Akther, demanded complete installation of hand pumps, completion of PMGSY roads, Inclusion of PMAY pending cases besides other issues. She also urged upon the executing agencies to expedite the pace of work on projects sanctioned under District CAPEX and DDC/BDC/PRI grants.
Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner Secretary said that these public darbars are being organised in every district on the directions of government to seek feedback from the public and PRIs regarding implementation of government schemes on ground.
Vikramjit Singh gave a patient hearing to all the deputations, individuals and passed on the spot directions to the concerned officers for resolving their issues.
The programme was attended by Deputy Commissioner, Ch. Mohammad Yasin, SSP Poonch, ADC, ACR, SDM Mendhar/Surankote, district officers besides DDC, BDC and PRIs members.
