Srinagar: Police on Monday said that it has booked three most wanted drug smugglers under PIT NDPS Act in Baramulla and also lodged them in Central Jail Kot-balwal Jammu after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent Authority.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar, Police said that the three most wanted drug smugglers identified as Umar Mohiuddin Ahanger S/o Gh Mohiuddin R/o Goom Ahmadpora, Shabir Ahmad Khan S/o Late Samander Khan R/o Wanigam Bala Pattan and Peerzada Mudasir Ahmad Shah @ Bata S/o Peerzada Mohammad Maqbool Shah R/o Chanderseer Pattan have been booked under PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent Authority, adding therein that the booked drug smugglers have been detained and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot-balwal Jammu.
Police in its statement further said that many a cases were registered against these drug smugglers for being involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth of Baramulla, Kreeri, Pattan and other areas of District Baramulla, adding therein that despite their involvement in many FIR’s they did not mend their activities and were again involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement Police said that people of the area appreciated it for it’s action against drug peddlers. Police on this occasion also warned that stern actions will be taken against people indulging in drug menace.
