Srinagar: Police on Saturday said that it has arrested a resident of MirBazar Anantnag for being involved in illegal extraction of minerals in Kulgam district and also vseized a vehicle in Kulgam.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Post Mirbazar Anantnag led by Incharge Police Post Mirbazar seized a vehicle (JCB) and arrested a driver identified Fazil Ahmad Tantray S/o Mohd Akbar Tantray R/o Nowpora involved in illegal extraction from Vishaw river at Nowpora.
Stating that a case vide FIR No. 226/2023 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Qazigund besides which further investigation has been also initiated, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement said that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
