Budgam :- Chairman Jammu & Kashmir Peoples Democratic Front (J&KPDF) and former Minster Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen on Friday condemned police lathi-charge on Kashmiri female students at Desh Bhagat university Punjab ,who were protesting against alleged fraud committed in their nursing course admissions .
In a statement issued from party headquarters here, Hakeem while condemning police lathi-charge on Kashmiri female students at Desh Bhagat university Punjab ,has appealed the Union health minister Mansukh Mandaviya and Punjab chief minister ,Bhagwant Mann to help the Kashmiri nursing students who have been protesting for the past two months against the university administration’s “arbitrary” decision to transfer their admissions to a Sardar Lal Singh College that lacks approval from the Indian Nursing Council (INC) and PNRC (Punjab Nursing Registration Council). He said that the Desh Bhagat University has allegedly committed a fraud with kashmiri students in making admissions in nursing courses.
The PDF Chief said it was most unfortunate that instead of saving their academic future , the female Kashmiri students have been cane charged and kept hostage inside the university complex to silence their voice.
On this occasion Hakeem urged the Indian Nursing Council also to investigate into the DBU admission scandal . Quoting sources ,he said that that the university had admitted 140 students, far exceeding the approved intake capacity, which ranges from 40 to 60 students. The students are currently in their third year of studies and have been informed by the DBU administration that their admissions may be cancelled.
The PDF Chairman also appealed the Union health minister and Punjab Chief Minister, to save the future of Kashmiri students and hold a transparent investigation to determine how DBU admitted more students than permitted quota by the Indian Nursing Council and to book the culprits under law .
