Srinagar : Police on Friday said that it has destroyed wild cannabis in Baramulla & Bandipora districts.
In a statement issued from zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that in Baramulla inputs about presence of wild cannabis were received in Khore Sherabad Pattan, Saderbal and Tantraypora Palhallan areas of Baramulla, adding therein that after acting swiftly, a police party of Police Post Kungamdara led by Incharge Police Post Kungamdara alongwith Excise Department under the overall supervision of SDPO Pattan destroyed wild Cannabis spread on over ½ kanal of land. Police in it’s statement also said that in a similar action, a police party of PP Palhallan led by Incharge Post Palhallan alongwith Revenue Department under the overall supervision of SDPO Pattan reached the spot at Tantraypora and destroyed wild cannabis spread on over 1.½ Kanals of land.
Police in it’s statement further said that in Bandipora district also, a police party led by SHO PS Sumbal and team of Excise Department carried out a Cannabis destruction drive in Main market Sumbal, banks of river Jehlum and its adjacent areas and destroyed Cannabis cultivation on large areas of land.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding cultivation of contrabands in their neighbourhood and warned that people found indulging in drug peddling & cultivation of contraband substances shall be dealt as per law.
