Drug smuggler under PIT NDPS Act in Bla, another arrested in Kulgam : Police

Srinagar : Police on Monday said that it has booked a drug smuggler under PIT NDPS Act in north Kashmir’s district Baramulla, besides arresting another drug peddler n South Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a drug peddler namely Barkat Ali Mian @Raja S/o Mohammad Maqbool Mian R/o Mian Mohalla Pattan has been booked under PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority, Stating therein further that the said drug peddler was later detained and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot-Balwal Jammu.
Police in it’s statement further said that many cases were already registered against the said accuse who was also involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth of Pattan and other areas of District Baramulla’ adding therein that despite his involvement in many FIRs, he did not mend his activities and was again involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth.
Police in it’s statement further said that in an another similar action in Kulgam district, a police party of PS Qaimoh at a checkpoint established near Khudwani Bypass, arrested a drug peddler identified as Ghulam Hassan Dar S/o Mohd Ismail Dar R/o Turka Tachloo and during searches officers recovered 9 Kgs of Poppy Straw and 11 bottles of Codeine Phosphate, concealed in a polythene bag from the possession of the above named accused who was later shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that police has accordingly registered the case under relevant sections of law and accordingly initiated an investigation in the matter, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement warmed that people indulging in anti-social activities won’t be spared and reassured the people to make all possible efforts to eradicate social evils in order to keep society free from drug abuse.
