Srinagar: Police on Saturday said that it has arrested a person involved in fake currency scam in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district, Stating therein that the accused was possessing counterfeit currency notes also.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party from Police Post Mirbazar headed by IC PP Mirbazar at a checkpoint established on NHW 44 near Manigam Crossing intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee after noticing police party but was apprehended tactfull, Stating therein that the accused has been identified as Khurshid Ahmad Naik S/o Mohammad Maqbool Naik R/o Waripora Kund and after searches recovered 37 counterfeit currency notes of worth Rs. 500 were recovered from his possession following which the accused was arrested and shifted to PP Mirbazar where he remains in custody.
Stating that it has accordingly registered a case vide FIR No. 31/2023 under relevant sections of law at Police Station Qazigund and investigation has been also initiated, Police in the concluding para of the above quoted statement said that people found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law.
