Srinagar: Police on Saturday organised an awareness programme on drug de-addiction in Soporefollowed by a public meeting under the aegis of civic action programme (CAP) at Rohama in the jurisdiction of Police Station Panzla, which was hosted by SDPO Rafiabad.
According to a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar the programme/meeting was attended by the teachers and students from different schools, members of civil society Rohama, officials from health department, Traders federations, Transporters and other respectable citizens.
Speaking on the occasion, SDPO Rafiabad highlighted the role of school management and parents in identification of substance abusers and their role in remedial measures thereof. On this occasion, thrust was also given to the psychological and social aspects of addiction. During the meeting, lectures were also delivered by many participants including students who were awarded by the trophies.
The participants thanked Police for conducting such awareness programmes and building a bridge of trust between police and public. Later during the event, sports kits were also distributed among needy students of the area to enhance sports activities among youth.
