Srinagar : Police on Monday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Awantipora and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a Police Party of PS Pampore at a checkpoint established at Namblabal-Kadlabal crossing near MeI School intercepted a suspicious person and upon searching recovered 105 grams of charas (wrapped in Maize Husk) from his possession following which he was identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Dar @Tiger Kala S/o AbKhaliq Dar R/o Aram Mohalla Namblabal.
Stating that the above named drug peddlers has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody, Police in it’s above referred statement further said that a case vide FIR No. 7/2023 under relevant sections of laws has been registered at Police Station Pampore and investigation has been initiated.
In the concluding para of the above quoted statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood nut warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law, Stating therein further that actions against drug peddlers are taken to reassure people about the commitments made to people to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
