3 gamblers held in Awantipora, Stake money seized: Police

Awantipora : Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested three gamblers in Awantipora and also seized stake money from their possession.
In a statement issued on Wednesday police said that acting on specific information about gambling activities in village Dooninar area of Pampore, a police party of PS Pampore raided the specific site and arrested three gamblers on the spot, stating therein further that the said gamblers were identified as Mehraj Ahmad Wani son of Mohd Shaban resident of Namblabal Pampore, Mohd AltafBuroo son of Mohd Maqbool resident of Frestbal Pampore and Mohd Ashraf Buroo son of Mohd Maqbool resident of Dooninar Pampore.
Stating further that officers seized stake money of ₹8,500/- and playing cards from the gamblers, Police in its statement further said that a case vide FIR No. 86/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Pampore and investigation has been set into motion.
In the concluding para of it’s statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding gambling activities in their neighbourhood and warned that people found indulging in gambling activities will be dealt as per law.
