2 drug peddlers held in B’la & Awantipora, contraband substances recovered: Police

B’la : Police on Friday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Baramulla & Awantipora and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued on Friday police said that a police party from Police Station Kreeri and Police Post Wagoora under the supervision of SDPO Kreeri Dr Khalid Ashraf arrested one lady drug peddler during routine naka checking at Wagoora Baramulla and upon checking recovered 250 grams of Charas like substance from her possession following which she was shifted to police station where she remains in custody, stating therein that the said lady was accompanied with her spouse who managed to flee from the spot due to darkness and efforts are on to nab him. Police in its statement further said that a case under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Kreeri and investigation has been set into motion.
Stating further that in Awantipora, a police party led by SHO Police Station Awantipora under the supervision of SDPO Awantipora Mumtaz Ali Bhatti while acting on specific inputs intercepted a vehicle (Tata Mobile) bearing registration number JK01AQ-2989 driven by one person identified as Mohd Amin Wani son of Abdul Gani Wani resident of Takiya Ahmad Shah Bandipora. Stating that during checking, officers recovered 5.1 Kgs of Charas like substance from the above mentioned vehicle following which the accused was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody, police in it’s statement further said that the vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
Police further said that a case vide FIR No. 157/2022 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Awantipora and investigation also initiated. In the concluding para of it’s statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt strictly as per law.
