Srinagar: Director-General Police Dilbag Singh has sanctioned rupees 70 lakh as Special Welfare Relief for NoKs of deceased police personnel/SPOs Who expired while in service.
In a statement issued on Wednesday police said “the special welfare relief of Rs 20 lakh each has been sanctioned in favour of dependents/legal heirs of deceased police personnel Sgct. Mohammad Younis and Sgct. Zahoor Ahmad who expired due to illness while in service”, adding that “Rs one lakh each has been already paid to the families/ NoKs for performing the last rites as immediate relief by the PHQ through their concerned units”, stating therein further that “the financial assistance has been given out of the Contributory Police Welfare Fund”.
Stating that besides, special relief of rupees five lakh each has been sanctioned in favour of dependents/legal heirs of deceased SPOs Liyaqat Ali,Amit Sharma, Parveen Kumar, Imtiyaz Ahmad Wani, Mohammad Sarwar and SPO Arvind Kumar. Rupees 50,000 each has been already paid to the families/ NoKs for performing the last rites as immediate relief by the PHQ through their concerned units, police in it’s statement said that the financial assistance has been given out of the Contributory Welfare Fund of SPOs.
In the concluding para of it’s statement police said “as a welfare measure Police Headquarters has taken many initiatives to ensure increased help and assistance for the welfare of its personnel and their families”.
