Jammu : On the directions of Director Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Rajesh Kumar Shavan, the Department conducted a market inspection in Trikuta Nagar and adjoining areas of Jammu to check compliance with the prescribed consumer protection and Legal Metrology requirements.

The inspection was conducted by a team headed by Deputy Director F&R Sham Lal Abrol along with Assistant Directors and the concerned Area Inspectors of the Department.

The team checked shops and establishments dealing in consumer goods with regard to mandatory MRP display, expiry dates of products, price declarations and other prescribed requirements.

During the course of inspection, some establishments were found deficient in displaying MRP properly, while expired products were also found at certain shops. Notices were accordingly served to the erring shopkeepers for the observed violations. Further action shall be taken as per the applicable rules and regulations.

The Department has reiterated that such inspections will continue regularly across Jammu to safeguard consumer interests and ensure that traders strictly comply with the prescribed provisions relating to MRP, quality, expiry dates and fair trade practices.

The general public has also been advised to remain vigilant, check the MRP and expiry date before purchasing any product and report instances of overcharging, sale of expired goods or other consumer-related violations to the Department.
