Sidha directs winter preparedness, 100% revenue realization and time-bound completion of RDSS and metering works

Pulwama : Deputy Commissioner (DC) Pulwama, Kuldeep Krishan Sidha, Friday chaired a comprehensive review meeting of the Power Development Sector at the Meeting Hall of the Administrative Complex, Pulwama, to review the overall functioning of the power sector, revenue generation, winter preparedness and progress of ongoing schemes, including works under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS).

A detailed presentation on the power sector of District Pulwama was presented before the Chair, covering the overall power supply position, revenue generation, loss reduction, winter preparedness, RDSS, smart metering, infrastructure augmentation, PM Surya Ghar and other related interventions.

In a comprehensive review of the power sector, the DC instructed the relevant officers to evaluate the current load, carrying capacity, and available margins of all Grid Stations, Receiving Stations, and transformers. He emphasized the importance of proactive planning in anticipation of the expected rise in power demand during the winter months. Additionally, he urged the officers to analyze the average power consumption and load data from the past three years, using this information to prepare for any contingencies and ensure a steady power supply throughout the winter season. The DC also called on the field agencies to carry out branch cutting along power lines well ahead of time to reduce interruptions, line faults, and safety risks that could arise from snowfall, high winds, and other harsh weather conditions. When it comes to revenue generation, the DC highlighted the necessity of achieving 100 percent revenue realization. He directed the field staff to ensure timely collection of electricity dues, enhance billing and collection efficiency, and ramp up efforts to recover outstanding payments. He instructed the Executive Engineers to conduct regular field visits, particularly in industrial areas, to focus on revenue generation and work towards complete revenue realization. Moreover, the DC stressed the importance of achieving 100 percent consumer saturation and accurate consumer mapping. He directed the JEs to ensure there are no discrepancies between the number of households and registered electricity consumers, making sure that every eligible consumer receiving electricity is properly accounted for. He urged all relevant departments and field officers to maintain zero pendency, conduct regular reviews, and resolve issues in collaboration with the appropriate agencies. The branch managers were asked to prioritize matters related to the power sector and facilitate their swift resolution. Finally, the DC reiterated that public safety and the protection of both public and private property must always be a top priority, especially during power infrastructure and field operations. He instructed that proper safety toolkits and protective equipment be provided to ensure the safety of all personnel involved.
