Kokernag : Journalist Naik Mansoor has been elected President of the Breng Journalist Association, Kokernag, following elections held on June 27, 2026, marking a new phase for the local journalists’ body.
Mansoor, who entered the field of journalism in 2021, holds a Bachelor of Arts degree and a one-year diploma in journalism. Over the past five years, he has worked on local issues, public concerns, developmental activities and social developments, building a professional profile around field reporting and community engagement.
He is currently associated with News Nation 81 and has received recognition for his journalistic work at district and tehsil levels, besides national-level awards. He has also been recognised internationally for ethical journalism.
Mansoor’s election comes at a time when local journalism continues to play an important role in bringing grassroots issues to the attention of authorities and the wider public. Journalists working in areas such as Breng and Kokernag often report on issues concerning infrastructure, public services, development, tourism, education, agriculture and other matters directly affecting local communities.
As President of the Breng Journalist Association, Mansoor will have the responsibility of representing the local media fraternity and strengthening coordination among journalists working in the area. Promoting factual reporting, professional ethics and responsible journalism are expected to remain among the key priorities of his tenure.
His colleagues said his experience in field reporting and focus on public-interest issues would help the association build a stronger platform for journalists and encourage greater professional cooperation.
The association is also expected to provide a common platform for journalists to raise professional concerns and promote capacity-building and responsible media practices in the Breng-Kokernag region.
Mansoor’s journey from entering journalism in 2021 to taking charge of the journalists’ association reflects his growing involvement in the local media landscape. His election also places greater responsibility on him to maintain professional standards and uphold the credibility of journalism.
With the new responsibility, Mansoor is expected to focus on strengthening the local journalists’ network while ensuring that genuine public issues receive appropriate coverage and reach the concerned authorities.
The Breng Journalist Association can also play a constructive role in highlighting the region’s social, cultural and developmental achievements alongside challenges faced by residents.
Mansoor’s election is being viewed as an opportunity to further consolidate the local media fraternity and promote a culture of credible, ethical and public-interest journalism in Kokernag.
