In 4-month crackdown on illegal mining in Budgam 34 FIRs Registered, 182 Vehicles & Machinery Seized: Police

Budgam  : Police on Saturday said that it has registered 34 FIRs and seized 182 vehicles and machinery across the district over the last four months.

In a statement issued here on Wednesday Police said that during operations across Budgam, Chadoora, Magam, Beerwah, and Khansahib jurisdiction 16 suspected have been arrested so far besides which the assets  including  3 dumpers, 80 tippers, 82 tractors, 6 LNT machines, and 11 JCBs have been  confiscated from areas such as Chadoora, Humhama, Khansahib, Hardupanzo, Narbal, Waterhail, Soibugh, Beerwah, and Magam. In addition to criminal proceedings, the Department of Geology and Mining has levied heavy fines on violators. In its statement Police reiterated its commitment to protect resources and strictly enforce the law.
