Budgam : Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, in his message on the eve of the 80th Independence Day has extended greetings to the people of Jammu and Kashmir and called for renewed commitment to national unity, peace, prosperity and development.
Sinha paid tribute to the leaders, freedom fighters and martyrs of India’s freedom struggle and expressed gratitude to the Armed Forces, paramilitary forces, Jammu and Kashmir Police and other agencies for safeguarding the country’s sovereignty and integrity.
He also felicitated farmers, workers, members of the business community, scientists, teachers, innovators, craftsmen, civil society groups, women and youth of Jammu and Kashmir for their contribution to the Union Territory’s progress.
“Let us cherish the diversity behind our strength, while fiercely protecting our national unity and integrity at any cost. This is the core message of Independence Day,” Sinha said.
The Lieutenant Governor said Jammu and Kashmir had firmly embarked on a path of socio-economic growth and witnessed significant progress in recent years.
He said several major infrastructure projects were nearing completion, while work on key development initiatives was progressing at a rapid pace to ensure that the benefits of development reached all parts of the Union Territory.
Sinha expressed confidence that Jammu and Kashmir would achieve greater levels of prosperity in the coming years.
Calling for collective efforts towards development, the Lieutenant Governor urged citizens to renew their commitment to building a strong, self-reliant and developed Jammu and Kashmir.
“I urge all citizens of the Union Territory to join hands in safeguarding peace and prosperity,” he said.
Sinha said Jammu and Kashmir was moving towards becoming one of the leading developed regions of the country and contributing significantly to the vision of a developed India.
He concluded his message by extending Independence Day greetings to the people of Jammu and Kashmir and saying, “Jai Hind.”
