Rajouri : On the directions of Secretary, Transport Department, J&K AvnyLavasa and Transport Commissioner, J&K Vishesh Paul Mahajan, the Motor Vehicles Department (MVD), Rajouri, conducted a comprehensive exercise to identify vehicles operating without valid permits in the district.
During the exercise, around 622 vehicles were found plying without valid permits. Notices were subsequently issued through newspapers, providing the concerned vehicle owners an opportunity to comply with the prescribed requirements.
After expiry of the stipulated 10-day period, few applied for permits, while the Registration Certificates (RCs) of remaining around 612 vehicles have been suspended for operating without valid permits.
ARTO Ashiq Rafiq Malik said that the action has been initiated to ensure strict compliance with the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act and to discourage unauthorized commercial operation of vehicles.
The list of vehicles whose RCs have been suspended shall also be shared with the Traffic Police for necessary enforcement action and to ensure that these vehicles do not ply on the roads during the period of suspension.
The MVD has reiterated that vehicles operating without valid permits will face strict action as per the provisions of law. Vehicle owners have been advised to ensure that all statutory documents including permits, fitness certificates and other requisite documents, remain valid before operating their vehicles.
