Says “Pvt Sector Investment Tapped for Major Infra Projects in Gulmarg, Mantalai”
Jammu: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday announced a comprehensive push to boost religious and wellness tourism across Jammu and Kashmir, affirming that no area with tourist potential will be ignored.
Talking to reporters regarding recent Cabinet decisions, the Chief Minister revealed plans to lease the old ITDC hotel in Gulmarg to a private operator for 40 years and the Mantalai Yoga Centre for 30 years to create a world-class wellness retreat. Underscoring the region’s spiritual appeal, Chief Minister Omar said, “Jammu is known as the City of Temples. People generally come here to seek the blessings of Mata Vaishno Devi and visit the temples. They come here to bow before the deities and offer prayers. We want to further strengthen religious tourism in Jammu so that more devotees visit the region and the local economy also benefits.” He emphasized that private investment in remote areas like Mantalai will create magnificent assets, attract visitors, and significantly bolster the local economy.
